Here’s a musical Where’s Waldo. Music is considered the language of love. We hum special songs to ourselves when love fills our souls or our hearts need soothing. Songs are said to charm even the most savage beast. “Who sings for songbird?” Barbra Streisand once musically lamented. Songs that have been written for the emotive chanteuse Celine Dion are packed with repeatable lines intended for listeners who have just lost or just found love. Now that I know that love can move mountains, I’ve decided it’s time to show some emotion. Let’s talk about love. I was given the message, “I Love You. Goodbye” and there was nothing broken but my heart. With this tear, I went about the business of my life when I really wanted to take the next plane out. I had shown some real emotion, but I ended up feeling misled. If walls could talk, the truth would have been revealed. It took me a while, but I came to realize that what happened, happened, just because; that’s the way it is. I had revealed the colour of my love, she did think twice, but then she felt she had to just walk away. All I wanted to do was make her happy, but after she left, I was all by myself. It took me a while to process. I had to sort out my priorities. I had to rediscover myself. I had to regain my strength. I had to stop crying, “Why, Oh Why?” I sensed that love was on the way because that is the only reason for living. My eyes opened and I found someone new, all warm and smiling. Love doesn’t ask why, so now I am falling into you. Because you loved me, I discovered that my heart will go on. I’ve rediscovered flowers, birds, and the magic of holding hands. There are songs about love and connection. There is only one road when I fall in love. It is risky, to be sure, but the power of love is guiding me. To love you more is easy because it is all coming back to me now. I’m feeling powerful. I’m sure I could conquer Everest, fly, or get water from the moon if you asked me to. All of that would be easy because I am already halfway to heaven. When I need you, you are there. So, this is my declaration of love. I don’t know what is ahead, but somehow I feel that immortality is possible. Just because of love.
